"I'm comfortable with the word as long as it means a believer of Christ who wants to spread his teaching," Ryan Witt, 30, said. "But it doesn't automatically mean that you are against stem cell research or voting for McCain."

It is a very positive development that there is a new generation of evangelical christians that wants to stay in close contact with politics and what one might call the "real life". The religious right should be integrated as far as possible, because extreme positions are the more dangerous, the more isolated is the group/ the person that/who utters them.

Wow.... So we should only have thoughts around that agree? You desire a very boring and mostly wrong world. The only way to progress and to find "truth" is to have a group who says "You are wrong." Otherwise you sit around on your wrong oppinion. Or maybe you think it should just be sanctioned groups that disagree? Meh, just a thought.

Im not shure I feel comfortable with this development.

Mainstream Media has promoted the stereotype that Christians are all Republicans. We shouldnt be messin with that formulae. It works pretty ding dang good for all the Christian Candidates I and my fellow Righties support.

Just look at what our first Christian Evangelical Presdient has done!

-Took money away from the Middle Classes and gave it to the Wealthy!

-Lied to start an arbitrary war.

      -Messed up that war effort

-Fell asleep when New Orleans needed him

-Blew the cover off a United States CIA agent

-Made sure kids dint get health care

-DENIED veterans of Iraq from gettin Education benefits

-Supported Republicans when they CUT IN HALF fundin for Head Trauma Injuries to soldiers

-Supported Karl Rove in politicisin the nations Judiciary

-Supported Tom Delay in extortin money from Indian Tribes.

Oh jeesh ... this stuff dont look real Christian-liek.

      Somethins wrong here.

Actually, the old, left-leaning denominations are losing members in the U.S. It's actually the more Conservative, particuarly Pentecostal churches that have experienced growth in attendance during recent years.

When evangelists actually practice what they preach, their words would be more believable. If they actually cared about helping the poor and the ill without biatching about socialism, then they might be more Christ-like. I believe that the majority of evangelicals have good hearts but it's the vocal extremist minority which categorizes you as either with us or against us. And that attitude has done more to divide our country than unite us.

"the majority of evangelicals have good hearts but it's the vocal extremist minority which categorizes you as either with us or against us"

I think you're right here. Unforutnately the loudest, most extreme minority is helping to form theology inconsistant with the example of Christ. I'll never understand how someone could be a Bible literalist (there are too many inconsistancies / conflicts within the Bible), but worse yet I'll never understand how one can be a literalist and then dismiss the example of Christ or every single point where Christ talks about the dangers of wealth.

It's nice to see there are actually Evangelicals who are willing to think for themselves and delve deeper into what Christianity means for them rather than depending on someone else to tell them how they should be good Christians.

I somehow picture Christ throwing the merchants out of the temple, with Pat Robertson, Hagee and the others getting him arrested for cutting off the profits. When the Cristians denounce the charlatans in their midsts Ill start listening

"When the Cristians denounce the charlatans in their midsts Ill start listening"

Many Christians do. In fact I'd step out on a limb and say the majority of Christians (though perhaps a slim majority) denounce these types of hatemongers using the name of Christ to serve their own ends. The problem is they're never given the same voice because they're not so incredibly lacking in morals that they can raise the millions upon billions of dollars needed to defraud those most in need of help.

I THINK IT IS ALITTLE LATE TO SAY WE SHOULD NOT TRY TO BE GOD, BY HELPING ANYONE WITH AN AFFLICTION...IF GOD WERE ALL THAT GOOD--WOULD HE LET OUR CHILDREN DIE OF CANCER?? HORRIBLE PAIN ON OUR LITLE CHILDREN??? HE IS NOT HERE, AND WE MUST HELP OURSELVES..

THERE ARE SOME IN THIS WORLD WHO THINK A COW--ALL COWS ARE SACRED??? BUT--WE EAT COWS ALL THE TIME..WE SURELY ARE DOOMED TO HELL...

HOW ABOUT ALL THE PEOPLE WHO LIVED BEFORE CHRIST--THEY DID NOT EVEN KNOW ABOUT HIM--ARE THEY ALL DOOMED TO HELL ??

STICK YOUR HEAD IN THE SAND--AND YOU EAT ALOT OF DIRT...
