Christian Coalition Supports Guns-in-Churches Bill »
Posted By Neophile 7 months ago in NewsThe Georgia Christian Coalition has taken 2 intriguing positions on legislation making its way through the state Capitol. It supports a gun bill that allows you to carry concealed in churches. At the same time, it has declared neutrality on a measure to permit the Sunday sales of beer and such at a new stadium in Gwinnett County.

Here's a hilarious satirical news report about the topic of guns in churches done way back in the 90s:

Sunday turns to gun-day in the video..
Now regarding the storry..
It seems to make perfect sense.
The only issue being to schedule Church Services so that they don't clash with events at the stadium.
This should be ensured by referencing the equal rights act.
Equal rights to go to Church, pack heat or both.
Anything else is highy discriminatory!!
And by the time that the 7th Day Adventists and the Muslims get their two cents in all this darn Nazi discrimination will be well and truly buried, along with the weekly massacre victims!

LOL, what better message to send to the preacher that his sermons arent hitting home then by packing heat into the service.

"LOL, what better message to send to the preacher that his sermons arent hitting home then by packing heat into the service."
You must have missed the news reports about the Muslim extremists who barged in on Jewish students engaged in religious studies and started shooting them dead - until killed by an armed Israeli soldier.
You also missed the part where the legislation enabled churches/synagogues to opt out and still ban guns on their premises. Basically, the proposed legislation upholds second amendment rights, if religious leaders allow it. But, liberals hate the second amendment.

Tessy, the article was poorly written which comes as no surprise since it is from the Atlanta Journal Communism. Or the Al Jazeera Constitution, you take your pick.
What this bill is about is letting those of us with CC permits to
1:Open Carry
2:Carry at "Public gatherings"
3:Carry at state parks.
4:Carry in restaurants that also sell alchohol.
As of right now these places are off limits. And they should not be. Here in metro Atlanta we have had many problems with women being attacked in parks. You cannot patrol every single square foot of the parks. And allowing us to carry would deter criminals from attacking in these places. Citizens must be allowed to defend themselves.
Just because a church falls into the "public gathering" section, does not mean that there are people down here saying that we need to carry in church.
Don't let this article fool you.

Those are not what I would call ideal places for a person to carry a gun, public gatherings has bad news written all over it and do you really want gun around where you take you family for a get away for the day? We all know guns and alcohol don't mix so that's a big no no. With the rest of the world trying to step into a more civilized time why would you support stepping back to the old west?

I normally agree with you, Tessylo, but I lived in a state for much of my life, where people had guns everywhere, and there wasn't any out-of-control gun violence. In fact, I felt safer when there was a gun available when back-packing in national parks or alone in my apartment.
Today I live in a state that borders on a police state, and we have few rights left. It's actually un-American that I cannot legally protect myself from car-jacking, public abduction, etc.
People who have suffered trauma related to some gun crime, like S*rah Br*dy, C*rolyn McC*rthy, etc. seek to virally spread their own hysteria, but it's unfounded. In fact, I think a lot of crime is the result of their endless public hysterics.
I think people should fight like heck to keep their right to keep and bear arms--including in church.

Great comment. Most people know just a little of the Christian scriptures. Jesus was not one-dimentional like most would make Him.
Consider also Ecclesiastes 3 (Old Testament but still a part of the Christian scripture):
verse 3, "A time to kill, and a time to heal. . ."
Verse 5, "A time to throw stones and a time to gather stones."
And the biggie, verse 8, ". . . a time for war and a time for peace."

Personally if I were to go to church, I just wouldn't want people to be 'packing'
and if something tragic did happen, the minister, pastor, priest etc...could use it as a reason to give a sermon about how bad things happen to good people sometimes (not saying all who go to church are good)and why Jesus/God, it seems, does nothing to stop it.

we just had a massacre here in palm beach county Wendy's. if there had been a gun on the premises, innocent lives may not have been taken.
of course, owning a legal weapon is more than just a license. gun owners are encouraged to keep up target skills, gun laws, etc.
If I had the balls, I'd own a gun---for sure.
"responsible" gun ownership is a good thing.

sorry I carry and advocate carrying... but no one would have been saved....
1 innocent who was the shot first and the only fatality other than the gunman who killed himself...
i believe they found 18 casings on the floor .. and listening to the news accounts I'd bet the WHOLE THING lasted less than 30 seconds.. .. not enough time, unless you always are on high alert which isn't possible...
i quite frankly believe that many more people may have been IN THIS INCIDENT-- each one is different--- shot.. by good meaning AC's...

What you promote is a step back in time and not a step forward. Why live in a society like that?

I support the right to bear arms. Criminals might think twice if a property or person were protected by smith & wesson.
