That's no small change the U is being accused of funneling. And it looks like it goes beyond just the school. According to the lawsuit it says "well known televangelists" are involved as well.

I think yall will find that we Christian Conservatives salute the Oral Roberts foundation for gettin their money.
Just liek we suppor t Goerge W. Bush and them Neo-Cons for their efferts in bankrupin America.

Am I allowed to comment here. I know when I was a moderate independent who did not fall lockstep behind Bush I was welcome. Now that I am a moderate independent that does not lockstep behind Obama I don't feel very welcome on Propeller. Oh well opportunist that will sell the a vision of hope for their own personal gain are not unique to either party. The radical right and the extreme left are the same wolves one just dresses as a white sheep and the other a black sheep. They are all in it for their own personal advancement and they will cut the throat of long time allies if they think it will help them divide and conquer. Who really cares if Oral Roberts University bilks its followers. So do all the left wing groups. George will cut McCains throat to win, Barack will cut the throat of the Clintons to win. Both of your parties are a bunch of lying cheats and that includes Obama. So who are any of you to condemn someone from making a buck from whatever crap the can sell them.

You have a right to your opinions. NO one is stopping you from voicing them. That being said, neither Obama or Clinton are "extreme left"

Of course you're allowed to comment wherever you like but unfortunately your comment is not relevant to this story which is not about politics but about accusations of corruption, financial malfeasance and religion used as a cover for illegal activities.
If there was even a suggestion that some of this money had gone to politicians or political parties of course your comment would make sense.
Please don't allow anxiety about not appearing to be a "politically correct" propellerite cloud your judgment and your thought-functions.

you see Red, thats the true sickness of liberals...they are so far in their own liberal candyland they dont even know they are extremeists.
Most of the posters here are far left extremeists and wold not know what a moderate looked like if they were slapped in the face by one.
You are right about Obama and Queen Hillary of course. Obamas campaign is nothing more than the biggest scam ever attempted to be perpitrated on the American public. He is the best used care salesman in American political history. The thing that craks me up is liberals are so STUPID they fall for it hook, line, and sinker!
The best part is so many Americans are just like you Red, moderate and on the fence. The Dem-whit-0-crats are going to be sooooooo suprised when the great senator for Arizona, war hero John McCain gets all those moderate votes in 08' and the repubs are right back in the White House.
You know what I am going ot say then?? HA HA HA!!!!

Certainly. Comment at will. However, I question what your fixation on Senator Obama has to do with a thread about how Oral Roberts is accused of having money funneled through.
Just because people disagree with you passionately doesn't mean that you're not welcome. I don't understand that.
You don't seem to have anything to really back up what you've been saying about Senator Obama.
One more quick thing, I've never been 'hostile' with you. I try not to be 'hostile' with anyone.
Now, comment at will and lighten up a bit.

Let me ask you all a question. Would MLK's civil rights movement have been as successful if Strom Thurmond or George Wallace had been President? Then why was Clinton's statement so offensive? It was true MLK was successful because the right person happened to be President. That takes nothing away from MLK, he was the right man at the right time. If any other person had been President MLK could have ended up being the Right Man at the Wrong Time. And I resent Obama's campaign playing the race card on this one.

like my post have stated these folks have asked to be taken. Am I supposed to feel sorry for them they allowed some charlaton to take advantage of them. What am I supposed to do donate money to cover their losses. That would go against everything they have espoused for the last eight years. It is every person for themselves those that complained about helping the people of NO will not get a cent from me that the GOVERNMENT DOES NOT TAKE FROM ME BY FORCE

Guardian:
Named as defendants are Richard Roberts, the school's former president, and his wife, Lindsay, along with former regents and well-known televangelists.
The lawsuit offers no specific details on how the alleged funneling took place, and Huddleston's attorney, Gary Richardson, said he wasn't able to disclose information to support his client's claims Thursday.

Guardian:
University spokesman Jeremy Burton dismissed any wrongdoing late Thursday, saying allegations of inappropriately funneling money through accounts had ``no basis in fact.'' John Tucker, an attorney for ORU, said the petition appeared to be ``grounded in fantasy.''
Huddleston's lawsuit, the latest to hit the scandal-plagued school, amended a complaint he filed in late November against ORU.

Op-Ed:
So many confuse the Oral Roberts the man of 89 years of age with the University. Oral the man has led a clean life, "touching not the Gold or the Glory'.
Richard and these tele evangelists are another mater. We have questioned the manner for which the University has been led in the previous decade.
There are a lot of smoke and mirrors with this lawsuit. Time will tell, may justice prevail.

You mean like saying that God would smote him if he didn't raise a certain amount of money by a specific date? They are all corrupt. Those phony smiles hide evil. If ORU was truly a godly(sic) place why would this happen at all? Sad that they prey on the most desperate and the most needy. Same goes for the likes of Benny Hinn, Paula White, Creflo Dollar and all the other prosperity preachers. Odd how they are the only ones who seem to being prospering. No one living under a tax exempt status should be driving a Rolls Royce. Simply wrong.

So if someone scams you and takes money from you, we should just let them? We protect old people from being taken advantage of, why wouldn't we protect the chronically stupid?
I care because there are a lot of these people duping a lot of people and not paying any taxes on millions of dollars worth of income.
Crooks are crooks. Whether their targets are dumb or not.

"The allegations of lavish living first surfaced in a wrongful termination lawsuit filed against ORU last October by three former professors.
It accused Richard Roberts of spending school funds on shopping sprees, a stable of horses for his family and a Bahamas trip for his daughter and her friends aboard a university jet. The school recently settled with one of the professors, resulting in his reinstatement at the school."
This last sentence I REALLY don't understand! Why on earth - or why in Heaven's name - would he possibly want to contaminate himself by returning to a completely corrupt environment which would be, at best, totally hostile and at worst a place where he must have to employ tasters to check that his tea issn't being poisoned and technicians to ensure that carbon monoxide isn't being pumped through the ventilators..
And these other clowns would also "accept" an invitation to get back on the gravy train to resolve their suit, perhaps?

How dare you?!

Its not likely that ORU gets that much money a year to funnel. It may be true that Richard Roberts lived well and possibly spent a lot of money on himself personally. He did get a rather handsome salary, but nothing like a CEO of a major corporation.
The large praying hands lots of people like to comment on were donated by a lady and cost something like 5 million, I don't recall for sure. I have been to ORU, their hospital and clinic several times (before they closed), met a lot of good people there. Most were doing what they deemed good works, and the students were great. When Oral decided to open the hospital and clinic free to the poor, he did make a mistake, because that IMO is what eventually forced them to shut down these facilities.
Now I am not Oral Roberts judge, neither are you so you might want to clean up your own act before you critize people who, right or wrong, were doing what they thought was right.

Wasn't just a free clinic, but free hospital and other health needs. They also had cancer research and other things going..plus a 60 plus story hospital facility that was still under construction. I guess you are one of those dudes that think ministers should to work for minimum wage and ride scooters to work. When you run a small corp, you need that certain items.
Think what you will...you will find plenty of others here who will agree with you.

This is another form of triangulation. Most rich people and corporations do something similar. The rich avoids having to pay their fair share of taxes as a result.

Where did a lot of this money go? I bet I know! Right into the coffers of the Repubican Party. Oral Roberts University judges. Anyone remember that scandal. People fresh out of college taking jobs of judges that were more experienced under this administration. This has been going on for awhile. Google "Richard Roberts republican party". Lots of good info there. Here's one..
