Religion – CNBC's The Big Idea, hosted by Donny Deutsch talked with Ann Coulter about her statement in reference to throwing away Judaism and everyone becomeing Christians. Coulter claims "we [Christians] just want Jews to be perfected."
Expounding an opinion - right or wrong - about any individual or group does NOT mean that person is anti-anything. It just means that they do not agree with or have the same 'belief' as that individual or group.
Saying that someone is "anti-Christian" because that someone disagrees with what Christians "believe" or because someone points out possible imperfections or weaknesses or errors in those "beliefs" does NOT mean that someone is "anti-Christian".
That is a defense mechanism when someone doesn't have a better or different response.
So many people who claim to believe in Jesus are so quick to forget how he lived.
He did not force his beliefs on ANYONE - the story of the rich young ruler is a prime example.
He stayed OUT of government affairs, he interacted and socialized with the sick and the poor and the sinners, not with the rich and powerful.
And the ONLY group/people he openly criticized were the RELIGiOUS LEADERS.

First, the Church sex scandal is despicable not just for the act of molestation itself, but in the SYSTEMIC coverup of guilty priests. As such, EVERY church official who knew or suspected this illegal activity is also to blame.

I do not believe Ann Coulter represents mainstream Christians in this country. Thank God! But she does repesent a radical right wing faction that does subscribe to her intolerant and narrow-minded views.
I have exchanged ideas with a few Propeller heads who also believe that Jews are imperfected Christians awaiting their devine destiny -- conversion to Christianity (whatever their idea of what Christianity is).

SC is not being anti-Christian but anti radical Christian. I am a Christian who believes in the miracles and the Bible (NT) account of Jesus Christ. I do not see any anti Christian crusade here. He and I both believe in religious freedom in the US (pluralism) but we both agree that the Religious Right is trying, via their attack on the separation of church and state, to impose their narrow views on to the rest of us. Ann Coulter, in my opinion is a prime example. Of course she has a right to her opinion as you do to post anti-Jewish threads all over the internet, so we can debate them if we feel the need. But, to say we are attacking Christianity because Ann Coulter, a religious right adherent blatantly spews her narrow minded views out in the open on a public forum showing her intolerance and insensitive side so that the object of her opinion (Jews) certainly might be offended, is ludicrous (my opinion).

Actually, this isn't true. You're making the assumption that his faith is Judaism. The assumption is based only on him claiming to be Jewish. Given his record of honesty and integrity here on propeller, do you honestly feel that assumption is correct?

Of course, ANY case of molestation is despicable. But maybe the rabbis you mention were neglected because the Catholic Church scandal was far more widespread. How many millions of dollars has the Catholic Church paid in settlements and lost court battles to molestation victims compared to the rabbis you mention?
And, just as despicable is the coverup. The Church has a very strict hierarchy, which Judaism does not have; American rabbis act alone and have much greater autonomy than their Christian counterparts. What made the Church scandal so shocking is that high Church officials actively suppressed molestation reports instead of bringing the guilty to justice. So while the actions of individual rabbis can be thought of as the perverse actions of a few bad apples, the Church scandal is distinct for its widespread systemic coverup of cases of molestation.

My reading time is spent on Jewish texts and resources, with only the daily newspaper to keep me abreast of current events. I'm mostly familiar with Coulter from Spadecaller's and other liberals postings about her. Given my assessment of Spadecaller, I'm inclined to give Ann the benefit of the doubt.
