You are the GOD who Works Wonders

Religion – I thought about the former days, the years of long ago. I remembered my songs in the night. I will meditate with my heart, And my spirit ponders: Your way, O God, is holy; What god is great like our God? You are the God who works wonders; You have made known Your strength among the peoples. You have by Your power redeemed Your people

I have considered the days of old, the years of ancient times.

I call to remembrance my song in the night: I commune with mine own heart: and my spirit made diligent search.

I thought about the former days, the years of long ago;

I remembered my songs in the night. My heart mused and my spirit inquired:

Has His lovingkindness ceased forever? Has [His] *promise come to an end forever?

Has his steadfast love ceased forever? Are his *promises at an end for all time?

NOTE this term * 'promise'.

Other references:

"so that the LORD may carry out His promise which He spoke concerning me, saying, 'If your sons are careful of their way, to walk before Me in truth with all their heart and with all their soul" I Kings 2:4

'As for the promise which I made you when you came out of Egypt, My Spirit is abiding in your midst; do not fear!' Haggai 2;5

'And see, I am sending upon you what my Father promised; so stay here in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high." Luke 24:49

The Heavenly Father keeps His promises.

As to the Luke 24:49 reference made by the Lord Jesus at Ascension Day -

"And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high'

This promise was NOT a on e time event as many within the church render. It happened again and again.

Day of Pentecost -

'Being therefore exalted at the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, he has poured out this that you both see and hear' Acts 2:33

'For the promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off, as many as the Lord our God will call to Himself' Acts 2:39

This was not only for the day of Pentecost. The enduement, this clothing of power which jesus spoke is required by whom would to carry out the task of presenting the Gospel.

It happened years later:

'While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell upon all those who were listening to the message. All the circumcised believers who came with Peter were amazed, because the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out on the Gentiles also. For they were hearing them speaking with tongues and exalting God. Then Peter answered, "Surely no one can refuse the water for these to be baptized who have received the Holy Spirit just as we [did], can he?" Acts 10:44-47

'And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they [began] speaking with tongues and prophesying' Acts 19:6

Op-Ed:

The art of 'Storytelling' needs to be rekindled, not only to those we cherish, but also for ourselves.

As our mind thinks upon things of old, the art of 'song' may stir our spirit.

Op-Ed:

There is an amazing facility of the human mind, to recall events set by rhyme.

Love it. :)

"Selah"? Never come across the word in the Bible version that I read. Wonder what it means...

The word "Selah" appears many times in the Book of Psalms' original texts. Some "modern" versions eliminate it.

It is usually noted as "a Hebrew word of uncertain meaning, possibly a musical term."

Peace!
