Yesterday, Sally Quinn and John Meacham asked the readers of On Faith whether they believe that Islam is a violent religion. I encourage you to check the comment section out - it has some 700 comments at this point in time, I'm sure many more will be added in the coming hours.

I don't believe that Judaism, Christianity, Islam or any other religion on earth is violent, but people are.

People who want to find any excuse to kill and what better excuse than religion.

YES IT IS! THE KORAN IS FULL OF VIOLENT PASSAGES. BUT WHAT WOULD YOU EXPECT FROM A PEOPLE STUCK IN THE 7TH CENTURY. THESE ARE THE SAME PEOPLE THAT DESPISE EVERYTHING ABOUT THE WEST, BUT LIKE ALL THE GOODIES THAT COME FROM IT. ie, INTERNET, CELLPHONES, SATALITE TV, AUTOMOBILES, AND EVERYTHING ELSE. NAME ME THREE TECNOLOGIES THAT CAME FROM THAT PART OF THE WORLD IN THE LAST 100 YEARS.

THE ONLY THING THEY EXPORT IS VIOLENCE. THEIR 15 MIN. OF FAME IS QUICKY GOING TO COME TO AN END IF THEY DO NOT CHANGE THEIR WAYS. I THINK THE WEST HAS BEEN WAY TO PATIENT WITH THAT REGION OF THE WORLD. THE ONLY REASON THEY HAVE NOT ATTACKED US ON A SCALE OF 911 OR WORSE IS BECAUSE THEY UNDERSTAND WHAT THE CONSEQUENCES WOULD BE.
