Dawkins Gets Angry Again »

Your passionate conviction is called 'faith' and you have been taught, from infancy on, that to have faith is the supreme virtue. But what if your faith itself is wrong? It is wrong. Utterly, catastrophically, dreadfully wrong. If you die a 'martyr' for your God, you have died for nothing. If you kill for your God, you have killed for nothing.

Message to religious extremists:
You are passionately sincere. You really really believe that killing for your God is the right and moral thing to do, and that you will receive the supreme reward in Paradise. Your passionate conviction is called 'faith' and you have been taught, from infancy on, that to have faith is the supreme virtue. Not just you, most people in the world, the vast majority of whom would never dream of doing the terrible things you are prepared to do, have been brought up to respect faith unquestioningly. You could claim that you are true to your faith, in a way that those nice gentle people are not. But what if your faith itself is wrong?
It is wrong. Utterly, catastrophically, dreadfully wrong. There is no God. If you die a 'martyr' for your God, you will have died for nothing. If you kill for your God, you will have killed for nothing. Your life will have been wasted, and so will the lives of those you murder. You will not go to Paradise.

You are a fruitcake. You have confused all religions and all political systems into one lump and you set yourself up as superior. You claim to have no faith, but in reality your faith is in the most fragile, misguided substance of all, your own brain.
Those who know nothing of faith are always the most evil of all tyrants.
If you can't see the difference between Christianity and what it has done to create western civilization, and how it shares nothing with Mohammedans and their political-sham-religion then you are the greatest fool of all.

mossback, whatever point you were trying to make is nullified by your name-calling and personal attacks, which are completely inappropriate, not to mention against the terms of use of this site.

Never forget that most of what we have from the Greeks (science, mathematics, philosophy, history) was saved by the Muslims from the Christians. Also, one should also never forget that Christianity was used as a whip and a sword over the heads of millions of illiterate serfs and small landholders.
Don't confuse religion with any substantial increase in the betterment of humankind. It has done little to help us and much to hinder us.

All religions share the same basic flawed idea "My God is bigger/better than your God."

I guess you missed the first four words; "Message to religious extremists." Are you saying all people who are religious, are extremists? Try again.

I'm trying to figure out who died and when did they make Rickey Dawkins the Pope? ...and I'm not even Catholic.
I see no real true faith in anything he has written. While it is true God is a God of Love, our God that is, but He is not going to be patient with the Dawkins of the world forever. I would not want to be in his shoes. My grandfather once said, yes, you can walk right on the edge of a cliff, but a smart man stays as far away from the edge as possible, making his safety that much more possible.
Sadly enough there are a number of Dawkins in the world, and they have studied themselves too long, that intelligence and common sense have no common meeting ground.

Sorry, none of my inspiration nor hope comes from minds like his, no offense meant. It doesn't come from the Pope either. He is, after all, in the final analysis, just a man. All the preachers and all the drunks in the gin joints are no help either.

Now that post is all fine and dandy until that second paragraph where you show your true colors as a religious hating bigot. You leave no room for discussion, you assert that your beliefs are absolute and there is no other path, you are also filled with hate.
Deal only in absolutes do the Sith young Dawkins.
