A new law is being drafted to regulate religion in Tajikistan. It restricts the freedom of both the majority Muslims and minority religions to associate and proslytise. The law is aimed both at reducing the threat of radical Islam and the regime's Islamic opponents, and also at minority religions emphasising the Islamic character of the regime.
