Christians seem to have a brotherly respect for Jews, but not for Muslims (and long before 9/11)

Very interesting concept. I think that the reason Christians do not view Muslims in the same light as Israelites is the fact the Jacob received the birthright over Esau. They therefore do not belong to the house of Israel. They are, however still partakers of the Abrahamic covenant, and should be viewed as such.

My question is why do they feel they need to isolate (read conflict) themselves from both Israelites and Christians alike? When that question is answered, I think we may get closer to an answer to the first question.

The Arabs, not all Muslims, are descendants of Ishmael, not Esau. They are not part of the Abrahamic Covenant since Abe kicked Ishmael out of the household. Christianity grew out of Judaism and accepts the Jewish Scriptures as their Old Testament. Mohammad came much later and his followers tried to take over Christian Europe.

Agreed Dave. There is too much hate and violence generated on both sides. Unfortunately, religion is an added facet on racism, because it sanctions the hater. If we are all children of God, then we are related. Doesn't that make the Muslim as much my brother as my own brother?

I agree, the knee jerk reaction to Arabs as a whole in America was rabid calls for death and revenge. The problem is the thirst for blood never was sated. The prevailing attitude is convert to western ways or die. The counter is true for the fundamentalists and so the war rages on. Both sides claiming to have the upper moral hand. It's all to easy for both sides to get caught up in the mechanics, throwing morality (the main reason) to the back burner.

rockman one one side you are correct but as we see with Cain and Abel one brother will choose to obey God and one will choose evil.

Goodness get a grasp both in HISTORY and THEOLOGY!

Jesus preached on earth as a Jew. The Holy Scriptures including the New Testament was written by the Jewish people.

Jews have history thousands of years.

In contrast Islam began in the 7th century A.D. It does not regard the LORD of Moses nor the Power and Grace which are both wrapped in the Jewish and Christian Faith.

The Koran is an anti-christ piece of literature. The folks whom embrace it are as a whole anti Jewish.

The roots of the Christian are Jewish. It is those whom know NOT the Power of the Gospel whom try to weave multi-faith.

        It simple does not work.

If it'll make both sides stop fighting, I'd gladly draw their ire.

I mean, what more can two fundamentalists agree on other than "atheists should die and go to hell?"

On occasion I have bought from Jewish merchants most of my life, no problems...the few times I have dealt [ inadvertantly ] with Mid-East merchants, I always got ripped off or they were surly, disinterested or just plain dirty looking....I'll take the Jewish merchant every time now....experience is my guide/rule.
