Recently, I viewed a chilling documentary "Jesus Camp", which examines "the evangelical belief that a revival is underway in America that requires Christian youth to assume leadership roles in advocating the causes of their religious movement." The film follows a group of evangelical kids who attend a summer camp where they are

On the fringe? Think again. These wackos voted in your President. They have his ear. Bush is one of these wackos.

They ain't just the fringe. They are getting legislations passed. They are stacking the courts. They are replacing planned parenthood clinics with "Crisis Pregnancy Centers" that have no clinically trained personnel, just Jesus freaks who preach abstinence until marriage and having the baby no matter what.
They are millions strong in this country. They are the new Brownshirts.

Yikes Homer! Those are some scary articles. I had heard a little about some of the "code" words, but really didn't give it much thought. The articles gave me some context.
Everyone that is not one of "God's Warriors" ought to be prepared to defend our rights under the US Constitution. These people are dangerously subversive.
"few wackos?" I don't think so either.

That was downright awful and borderline criminal. I could hardly believe a man like Roy Moore could ascend to the bench and want to execute people based on their sexual identities. How does that set America or Alabama apart from Nazi Germany? Hitler killed gays too. Pure evil. The only way to express the hideousness in that sub article was pure evil. Thanks for sharing, Homer.

Since the reader is being generous enough to read this rant, I should first put my cards face up regarding my beliefs about God. I would call myself a Theist Humanist. I think that there is a God, and He ( or She ) sure ain't me. I also believe in the Resurrection, as well as Intelligent Design, but am agnostic as to the existence of the devil.
American Fascism: The Christian Right And The War On America by Chris Hedges is indeed an extraordinary book as it is the first major retort against the years-long Orwellian DoubleThink Big Lie by the Religious Right and other Conservatives that Hitler and the Nazis were Atheists, Liberals, Socialists, and/or Leftists of any sort.
The real and overlooked Truth is that Hilter expoused 'positive Christianity'. The Nazi dictator saw Christ as a 'warrior against the Jews'. All of which is outlined in one of Hitler's earlier speeches:

I hope everyone that reads this tripe understands that it is coming from a decidedly biased point of view. There are LOTS of inaccuracies throughout the article, but, first and foremost, the article never really specifies that most Christians wouldn't come under this description anyway.
If the Jesus Camp is, indeed, a movement that the author is accurately describing, then most Christians would, I would hope, would equate this with the fanatical Islamic groups and nix it as a Christian group. Keep in mind that just because someone says they're a Christian doesn't make it so. You have to look at the fruit in their lives.
Hey, populist, it's an interesting article, but extremely sad. One question for you, though... why would dispensationalists want to "take over the world", if they're planning to be raptured out of it? The pastors cited in the articles are all dispensationalists, I believe.

why? I have absolutely no clue. do you? Why would people who claim to be christians want to wage an aggressive war in iraq and afghanistan? There's a lot of twisted things happening to christianity. i personally think people like these are doing it on purpose to give good people a bad name.
nothing to base that on. just a gut feeling.
tyrants throughout history have USED religion against the common people...must to their detriment.

Lame argument, we retaliated against terrorists in Afghanistan, and we removed a terrible murderous dictator who was committing genocide in Iraq. Not the same, thank you, try again.

Thanks, DH.
I'm not implying, Froggy, I'm asking. If in fact God is all-powerful, why do humans have to convert each other? Isn't the whole point of judgment day that God will sort us out? And if so, then why should we make any effort to convert each other? Doesn't that suggest that God can't do it on his own (or more to the point, that people who feel compelled to convert others believe God can't do it, and thereby don't believe their own dogma)?
And if the answer to everything is Free Will, then doesn't God want only those who convert by free will, as opposed to being blackmailed with food-for-Christianity or at the point of a gun?

Bigotry? Right to Assembly? Those are B.S. arguments. These people believe in the death penalty for "Sins".
http://www.thecarpetbaggerreport.com/wp-print.php?
That argument about being tolerant about peoples POV is all well and good. But, these are to most intolerant people around. If you don't see things their way then,"You're not a christian and you're gonna burn." Does the KKK have their right to assembly? Tolerance is one thing. Being tolerant of the intolerant...sorry,no way.
