It seems the Vatican has decided to throw it's 2 cents in on the controversy over a gay pride event in Jerusalem. Naturally, their 2 cents involves destroying the liberty of others:

"Unlike them, I support the rights of conscience for myself and for them." Yeah. Sure he does. No doubt he supports the rights of secularists to not be offended by the sight of Ten Commandments in public places, Christmas trees in stores, to hear only "Happy Holidays", prayer at school graduations, and on and on it goes.

Every one, and I do mean every one, tries to impose their world view, whether religious or secular, on everyone else. Which is why the modern nation state is way too big; we have non-stop conflicts over worldviews. Thus, it's better to have smaller, homogenous groups people living in their own nation.

Secession, anyone? I'm all for it.

You missed the point. The Vatican and a lot of "religous" groups think they have the right to tell the rest of us how to live our lives, think and act. WRONG!!! It is the attempt by one group to impose their will/view on another group. This pope in particular seems to think only his view matters-whether he is insulting Muslims or thinking to dictate another's countries activities. Perhaps it is time for the "religious" to get off their soap-box, live their lives the way they wish and leave the rest of us alone. I support the rights of people to believe what they wish-also I like Christimas trees (a Tuetonic customer-has NOTHING to do with Christ), I like the Ten Commandments (too bad most "religious" don't observe them!) and I like the phrase Happy Holidays (kinda makes the season universal rather than just limited to one narrow-minded group).
